Wood Facts
What makes Sandlot Stiks different than the rest?
We know you have many choices of wood bats to select from, chosing quality can be confusing at times especially with all the information being thrown at you these days. Over the past 15 or so years it seems hundreds have tried their hand at the wood bat manufacturing process. The vast majority have or will ultimately fail. Yes turning a bat is a simple process but the simple fact is this..."It's not that simple"
What's different about us and our bats?
One thing we have now decided to steer away from is showing our manufacturing process on the internet. Why, you may ask ? Before we ever sold a bat to anyone we spent 4 years researching our industry and our prototypes in order to discover what it took to produce a quality wood bat. While the internet is a great avenue for us to promote our product, it is also a gateway for copy cat businesses to gain information fast without really knowing the facts for success. While bat manufacturing is intriguing to many, the bottom line is our customers have proven to us they simply want to know they can rely on us and our product. When we first entered the business in 1996 there were 14 bat manufacturers including Sandlot Stiks. There are over 100 today with many coming and going every year. One of the reasons largely responsible for this is too many companies talk about and show how they make their bats on their websites. The process is made to look simple and consequently many try to copy it just to make a quick buck but end up failing. We are no strangers to this ourselves. It appears we too have helped start more than just our own wood bat company over the years. Copying an idea is easy but it's hard to create an original and lasting business especially in the competive market we are in.
With the market being diluted with so many bat companies the customers purchasing the products are once again being sold too many improperly designed poor quality wood bats and bombarded with bad information. While there are several companies with plenty of experience in the industry doing it right, there are far too many doing it wrong. We've produced wood bats for 14 years through good times and bad and we're back stronger than ever for a reason, QUALITY PRODUCT and KNOWELDGE of the industry. For hitters, the bat is your tool of the trade so don't cheat yourself by purchasing poor quality wood bats.
What we'll say about the process and performance of our bats is this:
What you get from Sandlot Stiks is simple...A Quality Product and Quality Service. High Quality wood bats tend to last longer and perform better when properly used. We can't quarnatee anything other than we buy the best wood available and turn it into high quality wood baseball bats that just happen to look nice too. So you're still asking what makes us differnt. Well, besides our founders being exceptionally knowledgeable about hitting , using state of the art technology to manufacture our bats and requiring the strictest specifications from our lumber suppliers; we are the ONLY bat manufacturers using BATLAC with backspin technology. Why are we the only ones with BATLAC? Simple we formulated it and make it ourselves. You won't see anyone else using it for that reason. Check out the BATLAC link for more info.
If you find yourself breaking a lot of wood bats, it's probably because there is a flaw in your swing or you're buying poor quality wood bats. If you think you're buying high quality bats from another company currently and are still breaking a lot of wood bats; we suggest getting hitting instruction and comparing your current source of wood bats to our bats. There is no shame in taking lessons from a professional hitting instructor regardless of what level you play at, we guarantee it will help reduce the amount of bats you break and increase your success as a hitter. In fact we'll even help you find a great instuctor in your area...Check out our Links page.
At Sandlot Stiks we are Wood Bat manufacturers, that's all. The Executives of our corporation are former professional baseball players with backgrounds in engineering and manufacturing. We chose wood bats as our business for simple reasons... hitting a baseball is what we did best as professional players, teaching others how to hit a baseball is what we did best as professional coaches and chosing the right wood bat to do it with became an art for us. Through our experiences in the game we found there was a need for a better quality wood bat at the professional level. This eventually became a concept of providing a professional quality wood bat to players of all levels.
We are not experts in logging or wood processing nor are we marketing gurus that have other companies handling every aspect of our manufacturing. We run a wood bat manufacturing business and have 14 years of experience doing so. We leave our wood milling up to the experts who do that for a living. What we do with the wood from that point is something you have trusted us with for 14 years because the result is quality in your hands. After 14 years of engineering and manufacturing bats and a combined 50+ years of playing the game at every level, we consider ourseleves experts in hitting a baseball and manufacturing the wood baseball bats to do it with.
The game has changed since the inception of Maple bats into the market in the 1990's. We are proud to say we were part of the reason it has changed for the better. History, research and studies tell us this; many different hardwoods have been used throughout the 100+ years the game has been played. And, although we've tried them all through the years, through our own successes and failures experimenting with them we've settled on the woods we know work best.
We make no claim to being the "Original" Maple, Ash, Birch, Beech, Hickory, Bamboo(not a wood by the way), or any other wood bat company because we know the people at Louisville Slugger tried them all many years ago. The way wood is processed has changed over the years and because of it more woods are available to us for the use in the manufacturing of our bats. We did not invent the wood baseball bat or any version of it, all we do is make a really high quality product and give great service. Our prices are fair but not the cheapest or most expensive. We work hard to run our business the right way and by being the cheap guy we can't stay in business and continue to supply you with a great product, so don't expect cheap bats from us. Even though we'll rarely end up with them, we don't sell OFF SPEC or BLEM bats without letting you know and we don't discount our PRO XL2 bats just to make the sale. We made the choice to not sell to MLB so you won't pay premiums just because a major leaguer is using our bats. With Sandlot Stiks you get a great quality product at a price which reflects what you receive.
Our promise to you is this, we'll do our best to outfit you with the best quality wood baseball bats we can possibly produce. All you have to do is trust us and try them for yourself.
As former professional baseball players, professional baseball coaches and current professional wood bat manufacturers, our motto has been and always will be:
"We wouldn't sell it if we wouldn't swing it."
We are happy to have your business.
Sincerely,
Sandlot Stiks
